48 Dogs seized in Goldendale WA

Goldendale, WA - Calls from a concerned citizen lead police to the home of a suspected dog breeder this past Saturday. What initially began as a welfare check, turned into a large dog rescue mission.

Just outside of the city of Goldendale, 48 dogs were discovered to be living in deplorable conditions. Many of the dogs found at the property were malnourished, some were suffering from infections and skin conditions, and all were living in a dirty, unhealthy environment. Responding officials even discovered the body of a dead dog that the other dogs had been feeding on. Deplorable.

The 48 dogs removed from the property include Rottweilers, Dobermans and German shepherds. According to Lisa Mabry of the non-profit dog rescue, Dogs of the Gorge, the breeder had been breeding to bring back the Gladiator style of many of these breeds.

Currently, the 48 dogs are being fostered with different rescue groups. The breeder has not yet been charged and specific details can not be shared about the individual for fear that a case against the person might be compromised.

D.O.G. (Dogs of the Gorge) is currently caring for many of the dogs removed from the property on Saturday. The sheer number of dogs has nearly over-whelmed the small non-profit dog rescue and help is needed so that they can continue to provide the best care possible to the dogs in foster care. Caring for so many dogs is a huge responsibility and enormous financial strain. The public's help is needed for the following items:

Collars

Flea/Worm treatment

Monetary donations for spay/neuter surgery and other medical care

High quality dog food

Foster homes (breed experience requested)

According to Lisa Mabry, of D.O.G., many of the dogs need supplements due to their poor diet. She is hoping to have raise funds for special foods necessary to bring the dogs' digestive systems and skin, back to a healthy condition. Items currently being utilized include yogurt, high protein foods, and fish oil supplements.

Donations to D.O.G. can be made to: 115 Wing Rd. Goldendale Wa. 98620. Inquiries can be directed to (541) 978-0079. All donations are tax deductible as the rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

Donations can also be directed to the vet clinic which will be helping with the spay/neuter surgeries, as well as eye surgery for several dogs in need. You can direct your donations to: Mid-Columbia Veterinary Clinic, Marianne Randall DVM, 417 E. Broadway Street, Goldendale, WA 98620 (phone inquiries to 509-773-4363) Please indicate that the funds are to be applied to the D.O.G. rescue for the Goldendale dog seizure for proper allocation.

The dogs are in good hands now. All are receiving care and love for perhaps the first time in their lives. More updates will be shared as they become known. Thank you for reading and thank you for sharing this article with others.
